2 Corinthians 1

14 09 2007

Hope is key to keep us moving foward in our faith. Without hope, we won’t be able to reach our destiny.

Paul was talking about his suffering and hardship during his ministry. in other passage paul mentioned more details about persecutions he faced(shipwreck, beaten w/ rods, stoned, etc) – 2 Cor 11:25. But still in his suffering, God’s grace and mercy comforted him.

What’s our problems, sufferings or persecution that troubles us today?
finance, relationship, or other things???

we can be sure that God never changed, He is the same God (in the past, present and the future).
Same God that protected Paul at those difficult time.

He is our SAVIOUR.

Prayer:
Lord, I pray that I will always give thanks in all circumstances in my life. In the time of joy or hardship, my spirit will continue to believe that You are my God(Creator of all things). You in control in my life. I shall not worry. Thank you God. In Jesus name, Amen.

1 Corinthians 16

11 09 2007

There are 2 areas mentioned in this chapter,
The collection for God’s people and also the personal request from Paul to the Church in Corinth.

Paul encouraged the Church to save up come amount of money to bless the Church in Jerusalem (“Mother Church”).
We should learn to be generous and giving church, especially for the brother and sister in need.

in the personal request of Paul, He encourages us to accept the servant of God in love.
It doesn’t matter if he/she is young or inexperience, we should always receive one another with love.

we shouldn’t make the service of the saint become difficult, but it the book hebrew says that obey our leader so that their work may be joyful.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, I pray that i will learn to be a giving person, to be generous to give and also accepting each other with love.
I thank you for my church, my bros and sis in Christ that accepted me with love. I pray that Your love continue to grow in my heart, thank you Lord, in Jesus name, Amen.

1 Corinthians 15

11 09 2007

In this chapter, Paul was explaining the resurrection in spiritual body.

Some group of people believe that there is no resurrection, but some believed there is resurrection.
So which one is correct??

*Jesus resurrected on the 3rd day(Easter Sunday) shows His victory over death and sin.
It shows the promise of God of eternal life in heavenly place.
our worldly body will not last but our spirit will last for eternity.

in verse 45, “the first man Adam became a living being; the last Adam, a life-giving spirit”.
Jesus (last Adam) is the way, the truth and the life.

Jesus is alive and we will live with Him eternally if we believe and live in Him.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You for your death on the cross and the resurrection. You have set me free from my sins. Jesus help me to live in You everyday. To acknowledge You as my Lord and Saviour. thank you Lord, in Jesus name, Amen.

1 Corinthians 14

Prophecy Vs Speak in tongue

Paul was explaining the difference between those Spiritual gifts and also emphasizing about orderly worship.

There a lots of argument regarding the importance of speaking in tongue in worship service, where in this chapter Paul was mentioning that it would be better for the gift of Prophecy to be exercised in the church compared to speaking in tongue.

I believe that we should look the situation from some other views instead of just examining the content of the chapter.
By adding the context of the corinth church situation in about 54 A.D, the church worship might not be in proper order or structure like we have today. The teaching in the area of speaking in tongue might not be as clear as today.

So instead of comparing which one should we emphasized more (Prophecy vs Speak in tongue), may be we should just ask for both to help the church to grow even more.

As long as it’s biblical, we will do it.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, I pray that my life will be fill with more of You(of Your Holy Spirit). I thank you for the gift You’ve place upon me. I will use it wisely for Your church. Thank you Jesus. In Jesus name, Amen.

1 Corinthians 13

6 09 2007

We may have many gifting and talents but if we do not have LOVE, we are nothing.

people don’t care how much you know, but how much you care

in the book of 1st Corinthian 13, Paul mentioned about the importance of LOVE above all great power and gifting.

* Faith – Hope – Love *
and the greatest on is LOVELOVE is the essence of our Christian walk. Prayer:
Lord, I pray that you may fill me with Your love. I need Your love to sustain me and to serve You everyday. I pray that I will love others unconditionally and to be a living witness of Your Love. Thank you Jesus. In Jesus name, Amen.
